60 Pakistan Hindus cross into India at Attari-Wagah border

Shawdesh Desk: About 60 Pakistani Hindus Monday crossed over to India through the Attari-Wagah border carrying tourist visa as they felt unsafe in Pakistan and hoped that India will grant them citizenship, reports The Indian Express.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa received four “Dalit Hindu Sikh families”. He said he will urge Centre to grant them Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

The CAA envisages giving Indian nationality to members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan till December 31, 2014 due to religious persecution there.
According to BSF officials, the number of Hindus from Pakistan using this border to come to India has increased significantly after the new citizenship law was notified. The Hindu and Sikh families mostly arrive on tourist visa to visit gurdwaras and temples or to meet their relatives in India.

Most of those who crossed over to India on Monday belonged to Sindh and Karachi areas.
